Antique watches: where brand strengths lie
For Vacheron Constantin, the focus on antique watches seems logical, so the brand is particularly attached to the concept of inheritance. In the uninterrupted development of more than 260 years, the brand has accumulated a lot of amazing archives, which is very rare in the field of watchmaking. Thanks to this, Vacheron Constantin timepieces from any period can be maintained and repaired by brand watchmakers. The rich archives and more than 1,500 timepiece collections tell the profound history of Vacheron Constantin and the way it was shaped. From watchmakers and artisans in restoration workshops to historians of the style and history heritage team, Vacheron Constantin’s professionals are proficient in all the necessary expertise to create antique watches with an excellent reputation.

‘Les Collectionneurs’ collectors collection

The passion and love of taste connoisseurs and brand lovers for Vacheron Constantin’s antique watches has led to the creation of the ‘Les Collectionneurs’ collectors collection. The brand has used a wealth of resources to collect and restore a series of masterpieces of Vacheron Constantin timepieces of great historical value. These antique timepieces are sold at tasting events at Vacheron Constantin stores around the world.

‘The Les Collectionneurs collection represents the other side of Vacheron Constantin,’ as Christian Selmoni, director of style and heritage, said. ‘This collection continues the precious connection between the past and the present, enabling taste connoisseurs and collectors to directly repair and improve through the brand. ‘The antique timepieces have real quality assurance. The tasting events of antique watches held around the world have attracted experienced collectors and younger generations who want to explore the history of watchmaking more deeply.’
Antique timepieces rejuvenate

Whether it’s an antique pocket watch or a wristwatch, the Vacheron Constantin heritage team has always been committed to collecting the brand’s antique timepieces. This is a collection of timepieces from different periods since the brand was founded. When searching for watches through auction houses, private collectors, etc., the eyes of experts are very important. Brand collections include simple models, timepieces, calendars or chronographs … mainly pocket watches from 1910 to 1930, and watches before 1970 (especially watches from 1940 to 1960). After collection, these antique timepieces are subject to double evaluation.

The first is a historical assessment, which identifies the watch against internal archives. The brand archive records the case and movement information in more than a century with serial numbers. This is followed by a technical evaluation to determine the steps required from simple cleaning to restoration of antique timepieces, designed to keep or restore these watches as much as possible. If necessary, antique watches can also be replaced with original parts of the year (the brand keeps a lot of inventory), or parts can be built in the traditional way in the workshop. After the repair process is completed, each antique watch will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a two-year warranty commitment (the same as the brand’s regular series warranty period).
